Moving to Mondays and an Explanation from Colin

Hello Makin Whoopee Listeners!

How are ya? Is that a new hat? I love your hair! Okay enough with the pleasantries. If you've been listening to the show the last couple weeks, you probably already know this, but if you haven't then GUESS WHAT PEOPLE! Makin Whoopee, is moving to MONDAY MORNINGS, starting this Monday June 18th. We did the ol switcharoo with 22 and 50 Songs ( which will move to Tuesdays). If you dislike change ( and who doesn't) fear not; the only thing that is changing about the show is the day. Everything else: Chad, Me, Textbot will be the same.

You might be thinking 1 of 2 things: A) Why the move and B) Where the bleep is Colin and how come he isn't on after 8am? I don't think I've ever addressed this on the blog, which I apologize for. You wonderful listeners deserve an explanation!

Every CJSR DJ/Reporter/Radio Personality is Volunteer, which means most of us have day jobs. Back in January of this year, not only did I switch day jobs, but switched careers! This meant I had to do some training, so I was off the show for quite a while, but I was able to come back! However, In May, I switched jobs again! Which meant another round of training and new job hours, which are actually earlier than my previous job. My workday starts at 8am, which is why i've only been on the show from 7am to 7:45am, leaving poor Chad to carry on the show by his lonesome.

So thats where I've been. Why the move to Mondays? Well, recent changes at my new job made it IMPOSSIBLE for me to continue doing the show on Tuesdays. When the changes came out, I was left with 2 options: a) Quit the show, which would effectively be the end of 'Makin Whoopee' (Chad and I both agree that if someone leaves, the show is kaput) OR b) see if Chad would be interested in doing the show a different day, and attempt to trade mornings with another CJSR Morning show host.

Now I'll be honest with you people; I have a BLAST Doing the show. I love hangin out with Chad,  giving away goofy prizes, getting texts and tweets from listeners, and bombarding you with ridiculous nonsense. Its a joy, an honour, and a privilege, to be on CJSR during a coveted morning slot and have people listening to your rambling nonsense. It's hard to explain just how cool it feels to know that people have 1000 different things to listen to or watch in the morning, but out of all those, they choose to listen TO YOU. It is very humbling, and you'll forgive me if I am loathe to give something like that up. So, I decided to pursue option "b".

Luckily, Chad was onboard, and Mel, from 22 and 50 Songs, didn't so much as hesitate when I asked her if she would switch us mornings. A quick thumbs up from the CJSR Programming Committee, and Voila. Makin Whoopee on Monday Mornings, Starting June 18.

So, does that mean I am back on the show full time? Well not quite yet. I still have a bit of training to finish, but I have been told once I can fulfill certain obligations, I can get the extra hour off and be back on the show full time. Which I think is fair. And seeing as how the show is a Volunteer gig, the paycheck, unfortunately has to come first. In any case, I am hoping to return to the show full time in late summer/early fall, and am confident this will be the case.

In the mean time, I hope you will come with us as we Journey to Mondays! Chad, Textbot, the CJSR Complaints Bear and I are all looking forward to it. Also, I have to give a big heartfelt thank you to Mel Z, who basically saved the show, and to Chad, for putting up with all this nonsense. I may owe him a Kidney. Or Danishes 4 life.

Thanks for all your support, and we'll see you bright and early Monday Morning at 7am.

Your Pal,
