The Nippon Paper Cranes withstood a fierocious comeback by the Seibu Prince Rabbits, including 2 goals by Seibu Captain Takahito Suzuki, to hold on for a 3 - 2 victory to capture the 76th Asian Hockey League Championship monday night ( or monday morning here in Edmonton ).

The Rabbits outshot the Cranes 56-33, 19 - 9 in the third period alone.

More pictures and information to come later today, as the game JUST ENDED, and hasn't even been reported on by any of the Japanese news sites and blogs. We'll also announce the winner of our Asian Hockey League Playoff Pick em' Tomorrow on CJSR 88.5 FM after 8:10am

Makin Whoopee Congratulates the Nippon Paper Cranes on their win, and Salutes the Seibu Prince Rabbits on a fantastic finish to the season. Someone buy this team and keep them in the League next year!

More pictures and video to come later today!

The Asia League Ice Hockey Championship is coming down to a Game 7, winner take all, for all the marbles show down, after the Seibu Prince Rabbits defeated the Nippon Paper Cranes 4-3 in game 6 sunday night.

Rabbits Captain Takahito Suzuki, who scored a hat trick in game 5, played the hero once again, scoring the game winner with 45 seconds left in regulation, as the Nippon Paper Cranes failed to clinch the championship for the second straight game.

All that remains now is a 7th and deciding game to be played Monday 23rd, 7:15pm japan time at DyDo Drinco Ice Arena, in front of the Seibu Prince Rabbit's home crowd in Tokyo Japan.

Holy CRAP is this ever exciting!!!!!!!

It would seem Rabbits are dangerous when backed into a corner.

Facing elimination in front of a packed arena in Kushiro, The Seibu Prince Rabbits scored 4 unanswered goals as they defeated the Nippon Paper Cranes by a score of 7 -4.  Takahito Suzuki scored a Hat Trick for the Rabbits in the win. The best of 7 Championship series now stands at 3 - 2 for the Paper Cranes.

Not only did the Rabbits stave off elimination and force game 6, but they also denied the Cranes a chance to clinch the championship on home ice. Games 6 and 7 (If necessary) will be played at the Suntory Higashi - Fushimi Ice Arena, Seibu's home arena, in Tokyo on March 22nd and 23rd.

The Seibu Prince Rabbits are not only facing Elimination from the Asia Hockey League Championships, but possibly oblivion as well.

Heading into Kushiro with a series tied at 1 game apiece, the Rabbits lost games 3 and 4 to the Nippon Paper Cranes, who can wrap up the Championship in Game 5 to be played friday night at home. The Rabbits offense has sputtered, scoring only 5 goals in the last three games, and have been outscored 13 - 7 so far this series.

The fate of the Prince Rabbits following this season has yet to be determined. Seibu Hotel Group, which operates the team, announced earlier this year that they will not be funding the team for the 2009 - 2010 Asia Hockey League Season.

Game 5 will be played Friday March 20th.

The Asia Ice Hockey League finals are well underway, and it may very well shape up to be an epic battle for the ages.

The Nippon Paper Cranes took Game 1 of the Best of Seven series, 4 -2, on the strength of a Hat Trick by the Cranes Chris Yule. It was the first victory by the Cranes over the Prince Rabbits all season.

The Seibu Prince Rabbits came back in the second game, coming down from a two goal deficit and defeating the Cranes 3 - 2.

Games 3 and 4 go Tuesday and Wednesday, from Kushiro Japan, Home to the Paper Cranes. Keep checkin www.makinwhoopee.ca for all your Asia Hockey League Finals Updates!

Death to Daylight!!!

Everyone had their arch nemisis: Batman has the Joker, Robin Hood has the Sheriff of Nottingham, Chad has Phil Collins, etc etc etc. I am no different, except unlike Robin Hood, i have to deal with my Nemisis TWICE a Year! That Enemy? Daylight Savings Time!

See i'm from Saskatchewan, aka, God's Country, where daylight savings time doesn't exist. You set your clock once, then mosy on out to the wheat field, to listen to the Riders on the neighbors A.M. radio. Never have to look at it again! HOWEVER ever since moving to Edmonton, i've had to set, reset, and reset again my clocks, watches and microwave! Appointments: MISSED. Sleep: LOST. Why do we everyday engage in the same song and dance! And that Rhyme? Spring Back, Fall Foward or some junk. My friends, we must end this madness.

Effectively immediatly, i am dedicating my life to RIDDING THE WORLD of The Daylight Savings Menace. No longer should we show up an hour early or an hour late for things. No longer should we wake up in the middle of the night and have to consult several clocks and guess which one is correct! We deserve better! WE Deserve what Saskatchewan has!

Or clocks that set themselves. One of the two.

Feb 24 2009 - Cold, Co Hosts, and What the Heck is that Noise?

Chad was away this morning, but thank the goodness our good friend Derek stopped by and saved me from destroying your tuesday morning. We had a HUGE update from the Asian Ice Hockey League; Lots of Great Tunes, and i only wrecked 1 CD Player! Its a new record!

Now, seeing as how i have a tendency to break things when i am behind the radio controls, We did have a request for a local band called ' Zero Something' and as i was playing their song off the myspace, i somehow buggered up the feed, and there is some talking garbling up the song. SO I apologize for that, so i enourage EACH and every one of you to go to www.myspace.com/zerosomething and ch-ch-ch-check it out!
